The Work Room in partnership with Creative Scotland, is co-ordinating a Scottish presence at Internationale tanzmesse nrw. Working alongside partners Dance4 and National Dance Company of Wales, we will be part of a co-ordinated UK presence at the international showcase. 

Internationale tanzmesse nrw takes place every two years at the end of August, in Düsseldorf, Germany. Organised by nrw landesbureo tanz, it is a forum for exchange and networking and  an important meeting place for the international dance community. Tanzmesse is the largest professional gathering for contemporary dance with up to 2,000 international exhibitors and visitors come together in Düsseldorf to present a broad spectrum of aesthetic expression and artistic practices.

Dance from Scotland Delegation

We will support 7 bursaries places for independent dance artists or producers to attend the event, see work, take part in discussion events and network with international peers and colleagues. As part of the Dance from Scotland delegation, you will be connected with our space within the Agora exhibition space and participate in coordinated activities. 

The bursaries will include:

  • Return travel from Scotland to Düsseldorf (where feasible we will encourage slow travel)
  • Accommodation in Düsseldorf (and on route if choosing slow travel)
  • Registration as an exhibitor attendant with the Dance from Scotland booth
  • An honorarium of £700 for all commitments related to this offer (preparation, travel days, active attendance at Tanzmesse and participation in evaluation)
  • Per diems x 6 days @ £25 per day

Eligibility:

The funded places are targeted at those who have some experience of working internationally and would be able to make the most of attending Tanzmesse to build on this. To be eligible for this opportunity you must;

  • Be a dance artist or dance producer working independently in a freelance capacity, based in and making work in Scotland;
  • Demonstrate your interest in working internationally;
  • have created at least one work that you can talk to and have some experience of touring; (or the artist/s you are representing must fit this criteria)
  • be committed to actively taking part in the Dance from Scotland events at Tanzmesse, including preparation and evaluation

Selection Process:

Applications will be reviewed, and final decisions made by a panel including a representatives from The Work Room and Creative Scotland along with those who have previously attended Tanzmesse

You will hear a decision by the end of May.
