Studio

TWR is focused around a studio for independent dance artists, built at Tramway in 2008 as part of Scottish Ballet’s capital development and in direct response to the needs of Glasgow’s independent dance sector. The space was designed by Malcom Fraser Architects and we opened our doors in January 2009.

We are gifted our studio and office space at Tramway by Glasgow Life.

The studio measures 16m  x 7.5m, and the performance space is fitted with a Harlequin Tempo floor, a woodspring basketweave sprung surface particularly suited to the requirements of contemporary or barefoot dance, but which also works as a multi-purpose performance surface. One side of the floor’s length is flanked by full length mirrors, the other side by a double bar. In addition, there are fully accessible toilets and wetrooms, a kitchen with microwave, kettle, fridge and crockery, and a green room with ten lockers and a changing bench.

Equipment available in the studio includes:

  • 8 channel sound desk and inputs for laptop and/ or phone
  • Canon 4K Camera & Manfrotto Tripod
  • 2 Shure Microphones & stands
  • 43" Smart TV on stand
  • Zoom Voice Recorder
  • NEC P603X Projector
  • TC HELICON Ditto Mic Looper
  • Røde Compact on-camera Microphone
  • FIFINE Recording Microphone
