Sotirios Panagoulias

Sotirios Panagoulias grew up in Cyprus, where they started training in classical ballet and contemporary dance at the Limassol Municipal Dance Centre. They continued training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduating with a BA in Modern Ballet. Following Scottish Ballet’s national tour of Cinderella, choreographed by Christopher Hampson, they worked as a cover dancer for Scottish Opera. Later, Sotirios worked with Ballet Prague Junior, Prague Chamber Ballet and South Bohemian Ballet. There, they had the chance to dance a big range of repertoire from classical ballet to contemporary, opera and musical theatre. Sotirios has MA studies in Cultural Policy and Development. Through LMDC, they organised and taught in summer workshops with international guests and as artistic coordinator, they facilitated the organisation of the first international ballet Gala of its scale in Cyprus. Currently, Sotirios is a Lecturer in Modern Ballet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, leading the Young Ballet Company, is teaching in the department of Dance Science and Education of the University of Edinburgh and is collaborating with the Engagement Team of Scottish Ballet as a Freelance Artist. All while continuing to build upon their choreographic career and research.
