Sotirios Panagoulias
Sotirios Panagoulias grew up in Cyprus, where they started training in classical ballet and contemporary dance at the Limassol Municipal Dance Centre. They continued training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland graduating with a BA in Modern Ballet. Following Scottish Ballet’s national tour of Cinderella, they worked with Scottish Opera. Later, Sotirios worked with Ballet Prague Junior, Prague Chamber Ballet, South Bohemian Ballet and the Engagement Team of Scottish Ballet. They have danced in a big range of repertoire from classical ballet to contemporary, opera and musical theatre. Sotirios has postgraduate studies in Cultural Policy and Development. Through LMDC, they organised and taught in summer workshops with international guests and as artistic coordinator, they facilitated the organisation of the first international ballet Gala of its scale in Cyprus.
Currently, Sotirios is a Lecturer in Modern Ballet at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and an Associate Tutor in the department of Dance Science and Education of the University of Edinburgh. Their research interests include gender in dance, traditional culture and material design in performance.
