Pik Kei Wong

I am a graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts BFA in Dance since 2010. I relocated to Scotland in 2023.

My career has developed in three areas

As a choreographer, I have always had an interest in exploring gender issues in society. My solo work Bird-Watching explores female desire through challenging stereotypical perspectives. The work received an outstanding award in 2018 in HK and 5 stars at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023. I am seeking an opportunity to be a choreographer in Scotland, to work with a professional dance company or theatre, to continue my work and further to explore social equity in Scotland with a broad perspective.

As a performer, With strong dance technique training, after graduation I developed techniques in Butoh and Tai Chi, to also develop mindfulness and to facilitate exploring the meaning of work, beyond the physical movements. I have been fortunate to work with Xiver Le Roy and Christan Rizzo, they are very contrasting types of senior dance artists, and both helped me to significantly mature as a performer.

As a teacher, I have 14 years of experience teaching contemporary dance in primary and secondary schools in HK. Laterally I worked with Chinese University and professional academy HKAPA as a guest teacher, teaching creative and movement workshops to different faculties such as Architecture, Music, Lighting Design and Gender studies. I teach Tai Chi and Butoh and have a mission to share this skill with many walks of life.
