Lynn Shaw
Lynn has a passion for working in the field of dance for health & well-being. Having trained as a dancer in Scotland in 2004 she then completed her MEd in Learning and Teaching in performing arts at The Royal Conservatoire specialising in creating dance to share at mental health conferences & festivals, to help raise awareness of using dance as a therapeutic tool.
In 2016 SMHAF commissioned Lynn to create a short dance film "Borderline" which was selected to be screened at International festivals including Palm Springs Short Film Festival, Screendance Film Festival Stockholm, C Screen Barcelona, Dancelive Festival & Glasgow Short Film Festival. Lynn went on to speak at a series of conferences sharing the film & live dance at the International Health Humanities conference, The British & Irish Study of Personality Disorders, Socio Legal Studies Association Conference & The Royal College of Psychiatrists. Lynn continues to collaborate with Robert Gordon's University & The Royal Cornhill Hospital working with mental health student nurses.
Lynn's training as a Trauma Informed Creative Practitioner & Holistic Counsellor has given her a greater insight into working with people as a whole & understands not only the positive physical impacts of engaging with dance, but also the importance of how it has the potential to stimulate our mental, emotional & spiritual well-being. Lynn is passionate about creating dance work that is universal & speaks to non-dance audiences.
