Hayleigh Smillie

Hayleigh is a Scottish dancer, artist and teacher. She began her studies at The Dance School of Scotland before moving to The Netherlands to gain her bachelor degree at Codarts University of the Arts Rotterdam. Since then, Hayleigh has worked throughout Europe at companies including Tanz Luzerner Theater and Aura Dance Theater and as a freelancer with institutions including Zuhause and Tramway- working with choreographers such as Marcos Morau, Cayetano Soto, Brandon Lagaert, Jiri Kylian, Ton Simons and Pawel Sakowicz.

Creatively, Hayleigh is interested in translating connection and storytelling in various forms through theatre and dance. She is working on developing and refining a translatable movement language whilst retaining her enjoyment of working in a broad and versatile environment. Hayleigh is also interested in exploring dance and movement on film having collaborated on videos for Showsync Software and Vodafone.

Alongside this, she enjoys working as a teacher having led ballet classes for various companies and schools and contemporary workshops. Hayleigh also worked for Codarts as a repetiteur, setting Ton Simons piece 'Still Life' for their annual tour in 2020.
