Ellen Crofton

Through movement, moving image, projection, text, sound, installation, and materials, I seek to capture an all-embracing chaos, an everything; a space that gives, allows, and distorts. As such I hope to represent or lean into a messy bringing together of all things unseen, imagined, imaginary, lost, and recalled. Unearthing limits, moving with, and without, finding ways to dance in the chaos, the uncomfortable to celebrate or to find ecstasy in states of unknown. Remembering our bodies and intuitive relations in chaotic internal and external natural environments. Key to the process of unearthing and bringing together within my practice, is the use of materials borrowed from or influenced by the natural environment. I hope to honour rejected, unseen, or forgotten materials through movement.
