CROWD 2023

By The Work Room on 04.12.23

CROWD –  International dance exchange is a collaborative network of dance organisations, together seeking to support dance makers who engage with communities as part of their practice. The Work Room is a partner in this network, co-ordinated by the Goethe Institute.

Through hosting residencies and opening up space for discussion and knowledge development, the programme aims to support dance artists with an established practice in community-engaged dance-making to build their professional network, exchange experience with others in the field and develop their practice. This year 10 artists were selected to participate in a series of residency exchanges.  Natalia Barua was the selected artist from The Work Room and she was partnered with Anni Puuperä, a Finnish dance artist from Helsinki. They had their first residency with Taika-Box in Oulo, Finland in July and them came together again in Scotland in September.

This film by Owa Barua, captures some of Natalia & Anni's experience during their time in Edinburgh (based at Curious Seed's Den studio space) and at The Work Room in Glasgow.
