Vee SmithVee Smith - Artist Research Bursary

Vee Smith is undertaking a remote research process supported by an Artist Research Bursary

The Artist Research Bursary will allow Vee dedicated time to research and consider a route to developing a sustainable digital component to her practice. Vee’s research will focus on the complexities involved in safely taking work involving intimacy, the body, nudity and privacy from the context of live performance, into digital content, including; safeguarding practices, accessibility and reaching digital audiences.

The Artist Research Bursaries are a new strand of support introduced by The Work Room in response to the ongoing and precarious position of freelance dance artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly artist members who currently experience barriers to returning to studio practice. The bursary awards support members with flexible, remote research time to sustain and deepen their artistic practice in these uncertain times. The support is offered without a required outcome although The Work Room will support members to share or disseminate research where appropriate.
