Paula Davidson Paula Davidson- Artist Research Bursary

03—04.10.21

Paula Davidson is undertaking a remote research process supported by an Artist Research Bursary

Her research will take place between August 2021 and March 2022

Paula says:

Womanhood - the Maiden, the Mother, and the CRONE - The Triple Goddess - Where is my practice now?

I will use this research time to seek partnership working and hatch a collaborative plan, with a view to creating story boards and even creating a pictorial CV cocooned in the cycle of life–birth and death and nature. The story that dance is for everyone. All of nature dances and we too are nature.

I intend to spend half of the time developing a Digital Archive of my previous work and the other half researching and recording where my practice is now/what is my dance in the (possibly pre?) MEN-----O-------Pause. Through dialogue with family elders and other women, I will gain insights and embody more of the fullness within the cycle of a womanhood.

The Artist Research Bursaries are a programme of support introduced by The Work Room in response to the ongoing and precarious position of freelance dance artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly artist members who are facing new or heightened barriers to accessing a studio practice. The bursary awards support members with flexible, remote research time to sustain and deepen their artistic practice in these uncertain times. The support is offered without a required outcome although The Work Room will support members to share or disseminate research where appropriate.
