Paul Michael Henry Paul Micheal Henry

29.05—04.06.17

Paul Michael Henry will be researching his personal performance modes in preparation for the premiere of new piece SHRIMP DANCE later in 2017. This work is based on a collaboration with Dr. Alex Ford of the University of Portsmouth, focussed on his scientific findings regarding links between human anti-depressant consumption and the behaviour of sea-life. SHRIMP DANCE is exploring links between human emotion, ecological crisis and the politics of austerity and capitalism as found in the body itself. The final piece will be made with a team including work room members Jer Reid and Alessandra Campoli, but the current residency offers a chance for Paul to focus intensely on his own way of being on the stage, and on strategies for marrying butoh dance with text and poetry.
