Lucy Suggate Lucy Suggate- Artist Research Bursary

12—13.09.21

Lucy Suggate is undertaking a remote research process supported by an Artist Research Bursary

Her research will take place between August and October 2021.

Lucy says:

"During the pandemic I came to consider the domestic or shelter in place space as a potential forward-thinking studio/performance doing& making space. I intend to undertake Two-week long “home-domestic” residencies around the themes of Resonance and Trance in The Domestic Space. Can our movement practices grow in non studio spaces? What layers of consciousness can be access in a non purpose-built space? Can my grotty Ikea rug be the portal to a whole new world? I hope so."

The Artist Research Bursaries are a programme of support introduced by The Work Room in response to the ongoing and precarious position of freelance dance artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly artist members who are facing new or heightened barriers to accessing a studio practice. The bursary awards support members with flexible, remote research time to sustain and deepen their artistic practice in these uncertain times. The support is offered without a required outcome although The Work Room will support members to share or disseminate research where appropriate.
