Kate E. Deeming is undertaking a remote research process supported by an Artist Research Bursary

Kate E. Deeming will research and create a template for an online video resource in conjunction with teachers at Pollokshields Primary comprising of five minute dance breaks for children in the school day. These dances will be designed to be done at the desks in small spaces to allow dance to happen at anytime, also increasing awareness of movement vocabulary and building an achievable dance resource amongst the teachers.

The Artist Research Bursaries are a new strand of support introduced by The Work Room in response to the ongoing and precarious position of freelance dance artists during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly artist members who currently experience barriers to returning to studio practice. The bursary awards support members with flexible, remote research time to sustain and deepen their artistic practice in these uncertain times. The support is offered without a required outcome although The Work Room will support members to share or disseminate research where appropriate.
