In The Ink Dark

29.04—11.05.19

In the Ink Dark is a project made of four parts, conversations, podcasts, performances and a collection. A dance and a poem made from memory and from conversation from Luke Pell and collaborators.

Dreamt as a living poem, it is a wander along the water, a seat beside someone on a bench, a conversation, a landscape of words written with bodies, a space for you to reflect, remember, imagine, in honour of things loved and lost

The first iteration of In the Ink Dark was made in the Summer of 2017 for Edinburgh, opening at Leith Theatre as part of Leith Late then moving through the city following the Water of Leith to be performed at McDonald Road Library, The Botanic Cottage and Central Library and culminating with a performance for midsummer at the Scottish Poetry Library.  Now in 2019 Luke is creating new site responsive re-iterations for The Bridge Library with Platform, Easterhouse as part of Take Me Somewhere and for Dundee Rep and Dundee Central Library, all of which sit as part of this years Luminate Festival. During their Workroom residency original ensemble members will come back together with Luke to re-imagine the work for spaces of such different scales and be joined by three new core ensemble members and a number of guest performers for the 2019 performances. Throughout the two weeks the performing artists will be in the Workroom and may also be spotted developing material in spaces inside and outside the Tramway building.

Performances will take place at:

Platform, Easterhouse Glasgow Friday 24 May 5.30pm* Sunday 26 May 3.00pm*

Dundee Rep Rehearsal Room Monday 27 May 7.00pm*

Dundee Central Library Wednesday 29 May 6.30pm* Thursday 30 May 6.30pm

Luke will also be hosting one-to-one conversations as part of the project in the afternoon of Thursday 18 April on the Tramway Mezzanine.
