Aby Watson BRUT
BRUT is a fiercely neurodiverse duet choreographed and performed by two dyspraxic dancers. This new work unpacks the problematic phenomenon that surrounds dance work by dyspraxic bodies: when difference is invisible, what value, quality, or worth is the work seen with? And as dancers, what normative standard are we perceived against? With a lack of visible context, and subsequent understanding of impairment and lived experience, are dyspraxic dancers seen as just a bit shit, or unprepared, or unprofessional? Do we come across as amateurs?
