Opportunity to attend Encounter in Turku, Finland

International | Deadline: 03.06.2019

STRETCH is a 3-day event taking place in Turku, Finland as part of the Keðja network’s Encounters programme.  Keðja is a network of Nordic and Baltic contemporary dance organisations which aims to connect with the international dance community and invites artists to engage in sharing and discussion to contribute to a sustainable dance community. The Work Room has recently joined Keðja to develop international connections.

The event will focus on the theme of 'expanding professionalism' and will explore issues around sustainability in dance through panel discussions, workshops, performances and social gatherings.

The Work Room will support 3 members to participate in STRETCH 2019 by offering bursaries to support the cost of travel, accommodation, registration and event tickets. Stretch will take place in Turku, Finland 17-20th October 2019.

This opportunity is open to all TWR artist members but we are particularly keen to encourage applications from artists who have not previously received support to participate in international opportunities. The STRETCH programme explores multi-professional identities in dance, what it means to work sustainably, relating work to audiences and working and residency models. As such, this opportunity may be of particular interest to artists with an expansive practice, for example across participatory dance, teaching, producing or research or those looking to diversify their experience.
