OVERVIEW
The international exchange project Meeting Points began in 2019 as a collaboration between Tanzbüro München and The Work Room. Supporting connections and dialogue between artists across borders is at the heart of this ongoing partnership. We now invite applications for the fourth edition in 2026/27.
Both The Work Room and Tanzburo Munchen recognize the new and expansive approaches artists are taking to bring their work to audiences—often side-stepping established venues in favor of civic and public spaces. Through this Meeting Points, we are inviting artists to share and explore their approaches to creating these contexts for participants and audiences to encounter dance.
The Work Room (TWR) is a membership organisation, committed to creating a sustainable environment for independent artists working in dance in Scotland.
Tanzbüro München is an information and advice centre for Munich-based, professional choreographers and other professionals in the field of contemporary dance and performing arts.
THE OFFER
Meeting Points will support four independent choreographers (2 from Munich and 2 from Scotland) to come together to share practice, research ideas and exchange working methods outwith the pressure of production. It will take the form of two one-week research labs, bringing the artists together in Munich in November 2026 and again in Glasgow, in March 2027.
As well as studio time, there will be the opportunity for the artists to see work together, learn about their artform in each country and build new networks. Through this project we are continuing the cooperative relationship between The Work Room and Tanzbüro München, as well as seeding creative collaborations between independent choreographers in Scotland and Germany.
We are now seeking applications from Work Room members interested in participating in this project. Selected artists will participate in:
- A research lab in Munich, 9 – 13 November 2026
- A research lab in Glasgow 15 – 19 March 2027
- A series of virtual meetings to prepare, develop and evaluate the project throughout
- An event as part of each encounter, in Glasgow and Munich, to share practice with our wider communities of artists and public
Each artist will receive:
- A fee of £2000 for participating in the project
- Travel, accommodation and per diems for the research lab in Munich, including cover
- costs that allow for slow travel or fewer flights
- Tickets for selected performances in Glasgow and Munich
Additional financial support is available to meet access needs where required.
INFO ZOOM SESSION
We will hold an information Zoom in June with representatives from The Work Room, and Tanzbüro München along with artists previously in Meeting Points. This will be a chance to ask questions about the application process and the research labs.

TO APPLY
This is an opportunity for independent choreographers/dance artists interested in exploring their practice in collaboration with peers in an international context. We are seeking 4 independent artists—2 from Scotland and 2 from Munich, Germany—who are interested in cultural exchange and collaborative working to inform their choreographic practice.
The Work Room & Tanzbüro München are committed to ensuring an expansive range of dance artists and practices are recognised and resourced. We appreciate the rich potential for exchange between dance artists from different practices, perspectives and lived experiences and encourage members working across an expansive range of styles, techniques, practices and approaches to apply.

The application form consists of four questions:
- A link to your TWR member profile (make sure it’s up to date)
- An example of a recent project that you instigated which you would be interested in exploring with others as part of this exchange, we are interested in how the participants or audiences encountered dance in that project (approx. 200-300 words)
- Your experience and particular approach when working collaboratively with other artists (approx. 200-300 words)
- Your hopes for how participating in this exchange project, at this time, could contribute to the ongoing development of your artistic practice (approx. 200-300 words)
Video or audio submissions can be 1 file, that answers the four questions. This should be pasted as a link in the JotForm and be approx. 4-5 minutes. Please email use to indicate if you would require any access support to undertake the project, have a preferred method of communication or any other information you would like us to be aware of.
The deadline for applications is 13 July 2026.
You will hear the outcome of your application by the end of July 2026.
The selection of the participating artists will be made by a panel that includes representatives of the Tanzbüro München, The Work Room and artists from previous editions of Meeting Points.
