Call out for Meeting Points II with The Work Room & Tanzbüro München

International exchange project with Munich based dance centre

International
Deadline: 19.09.2021
Published: 13.08.2021

The international exchange project Meeting Points emerged in 2019 from the collaboration between Tanzbüro München and The Work Room. Supporting connections and dialogue between artists across borders is at the heart of this collaboration, as we invite application for the second edition in 2021/2022.

Meeting Points will support four independent choreographers (2 from Munich and 2 from Scotland) to come together to share practice, research ideas and exchange working methods, outwith the pressure of production. It will take the form of two one-week research labs bringing together the artists in November 2021 in Munich (during the SPIELART festival) and in May 2022 in Glasgow.  There will be the opportunity for the artists to see work together, learn about the artform in each country and to build new networks. Through this project we are continuing the cooperative relationship between The Work Room and Tanzbüro München, as well as seeding creative collaborations between independent choreographers in Scotland and Germany.

We are now seeking applications from Work Room members interested in participating in this project. Selected artists will participate in:

  • A research lab in Munich, 3 – 10 November 2021
  • A research lab in Glasgow May/ June 2022 (dates tbc)
  • A series of virtual meetings during the project to prepare, develop and evaluate the project
  • An event as part of each Encounter in Glasgow and Munich to share practice with a wider community of artists

Each artist will receive:

  • A fee of £1700 for participating in the project
  • Travel, accommodation and per diems for the research lab in Munich
  • Tickets for selected performances in Glasgow and Munich

Covid-19 RISKS

Please be aware that all planned activity and dates may change due to the continued progress of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions to travel and social interaction in Germany and Scotland.  We will adhere to the current requirements for international travel in each country and will require the artists to work within this.  You can see the current position for travel to Germany here

If necessary, we will seek alternative dates or approaches in conversation with the participating artists. The working environment in the studio and in person meet ups will be agreed between The Work Room, Tanzbüro München and the participating artists.

See call out for full details on how to apply.

Please note, that this opportunity is only available to members of The Work Room. More information on becoming a member is available here: www.theworkroom.org.uk
