TWR new Board Trustees 2021

By Anita Clark on 31.01.22

In November 2021 we welcomed four new people on to The Work Room’s board of trustees - Kathryn Spence, Sam Vaherlehto, Chinyanta, and Jesse Paul.

As a registered charity, The Work Room’s trustees lead on the organisation’s governance.  They are responsible for the legal, financial and organisational overview of The Work Room, and the strategy that underpins our membership-led structure. The board includes artists who are members of The Work Room along with people who bring their skills and experience from other areas to collectively support our work. The recruitment process sought to centre a commitment for the board to better reflect the diversity of the wider membership and we were supported in this by Sophie Amono, an independent equalities, diversity, and inclusion consultant.

The new board trustees share The Work Room’s values and are:

â–ª       Keen to generously share their experience and skills to support our work with independent dance artists;

â–ª       Committed to working inclusively to ensure our work is accessible and relevant;

â–ª       Interested in experimentation and new ideas as we respond to current and future challenges.

The proposal for board membership was endorsed at a meeting on 7 November open to all Work Room members. The meeting also endorsed a co-chair model with Saffy Setohy and Michael Bachmann sharing this role for year ahead.
