Looking back on 2020...

The Work Room Annual Report 2020

By Anita Clark on 30.03.21

The past year has presented challenges we could not have imagined. As a membership organisation for artists working in dance, movement and choreography, we are aware that many of our members will not have danced this past year with practice and work opportunities severely limited. This continues to be a really challenging time and everyone’s individual circumstances are different. As we look back on the year of 2020 and ahead into 2021, The Work Room is committed to supporting members to navigate the ever-changing landscape of dance in Scotland and using this moment in time to address structural inequalities and barriers in our sector; envisaging ways to build back better and ensure our sector is more inclusive and equal when we gently return to practice and live performance.

The 2020 Annual Report outlines an overview of The Work Room’s organisational activity in the year 2020. Presented ahead of our annual AGM, the Annual Report sets out our work across:

  • Artist Residencies and Research
  • Projects in partnership with others
  • Arts practice professional development programme & membership events
  • International working
  • Ongoing work towards Diversity, Equality and Inclusion

It also reports on our finance and funding.

Thank you to Brian Hartley, for designing and illustrating our 2020 Annual Report. If you would like to receive a hard copy in the post, please contact Sara on sara@theworkroom.org.uk with your postal address.
