Residency Award: Chisenhale Dance Space Future Fridays

By Laura Fisher on 11.03.20

Chisenhale Dance and The Work Room are delighted to announce the recipient of the Chisenhale Dance Space Future Fridays residency is TWR member Claricia Parinussa.

The Work Room (TWR) and Chisenhale Dance Space (CDS) share an affinity as membership based organisations, with an artist-led ethos and a commitment to supporting experimentation in dance. Building on this affinity, TWR and CDS are developing ways in which we might work together to amplify our programmes of residencies, artist support and artist-led projects and use exchange models to learn from and utilise the benefits of the other organisation and increase our offer to our members. This year we have collaborated again, to offer a residency opportunity for one TWR member to undertake a short residency at CDS ahead of presenting work as part of the CDS curated Future Fridays programme in a double bill with a CDS Artist Member.

We are delighted to announce that following a call out and selection process involving panel members Es Morgan (CDS), Kirstin Halliday (TWR member) and Laura Fisher (TWR Producer Placement), this residency opportunity has been awarded to Claricia Parinussa.

During her week long residency at CDS, Claricia will be continuing ongoing research, inviting in London-based artists, and developing the second iteration of new work, sendiri, which premieres in Glasgow at Take Me Somewhere festival this May. sendiri brings together two years of movement research project the sky was pink. This work follows threads of physical inquiries, experiments with sound, writings around existence, resonance, labour, healing, and the conversations we can only have through our bodies.

Claricia will perform in a double bill event Future Fridays: The Work Room X Chisenhale Dance on Friday 12th of June with CDS member Dominique Baron Bonarjee. This double billing sees two works unearth sites of embodied knowledge through movement, meditation and technology.

“Chisenhale Dance are thrilled to be able to host Claricia Parinussa in our space later this year, and support the development of her work. This is a key opportunity to develop connections between Members of our two communities, and consider what we can learn from each other's distinct artist-led models. We look forward to seeing Claricia present work alongside CDS Member Dominique Baron-Bonarjee as part of Future Fridays - there's lots of exciting crossovers between their practices, and we hope to see some friendly faces on the 12th June!” Es Morgan, Programme and Marketing Coordinator, CDS

Residency Dates: Monday 8th June – Friday 12th June 2020 at Chisenhale Dance Space, London
