Leaving college and making your first moves into a dance career can be challenging at any time and this year will be even more complicated. Barrowland Ballet and The Work Room are active in nurturing a thriving and diverse ecology of dance in Scotland. Together, we are delighted to be able to support three recent dance graduates with the aim of supporting emerging dance artists make the transition from training and navigate the early stages of their careers in Scotland.

We’re thrilled to introduce our three Recent Dance Graduates for 2021/2022:

Antonia Hamilton

I am a recent graduate of the Scottish School of contemporary dance and have a keen interest in cross discipline work. Over the past few years I have explored this in various different ways creating work with film makers, photographers, and musicians. I enjoy exploring the visual and digital arts as well as modelling in my own time. In the future I hope to continue to build relationships with other artists to create work that can be enjoyed by a wider variety of audiences.

David Ronan

I initially trained in contemporary and classical theatre which deeply informed my understanding of performance in general. Later I became involved in contemporary dance from a somatics angle. I moved to Glasgow to study at the RCS, and while there I discovered queer performance which is a label that has defined most of my own work.

I decided to apply for the RDG programme because it’s a great opportunity to get more involved with the Scottish dance community, to enrich my practice, and to put myself out there and have some fun!

Iliana Parousi

I am a Greek dance artist based in Edinburgh and I graduated in June 2021 with a First-Class BA (Hons) in Dance and Drama from PASS and Kingston University.

Through the Recent Dance Graduate Programme 2021-2022 I am looking forward to learning new skills, exploring new artistic relationships and developing as an artist. I wish to challenge myself into new ways of thinking, and build a better understanding of the freelance world.
