Sam Burkett

Sam (they/them) is a choreographer and performer who somehow also has a degree in Politics.

Known for being both highly creative and extremely sweaty, Sam makes dance theatre for stage and screen that runs the emotional gamut from happy to sad to hungry to gay. Their choreography has been shown in both the UK and the US, and their solo, Crop Tops Make Me Feel Vulnerable, won the Best of Anything Goes Award at the 2018 Houston Fringe Festival.

They have also written and choreographed an ongoing series of short dance films, Chats with Pals, which take a comedic look at the trials and tribulations of working in dance. They take inspiration from everything from professional wrestling to French love ballads, always aiming to explore unique points of view while pushing physicality and emotional expressiveness.

They have performed in works by Jasmin Vardimon (UK), Anna Kenrick (UK), and Teresa Chapman (USA) among others. Sam also teaches, delivering workshops in contemporary dance and physical theatre for professional dancers and young people, adapted for both disabled and non-disabled movers.
