Nicolette Macleod
Nicolette Macleod is a singer-songwriter, composer, live improvised sound maker and physical performer based in Glasgow. Her vocals have been used on a number of films and in a pop setting for albums receiving prime time radio play on BBC2 and BBC6. She was a finalist at the 2009 Loop Station Championship in London where she performed an original song that later won her a recording session at The Roundhouse EMI studio.
Recently she has been involved in setting up 'Iceberg' with Zoe Katsilerou, Eilon Morris and Penny Chivas. A group of professional dancers, musicians and theatre practitioners with improvisation at the heart of their practice. For the last few years they have been running WIG - Weekend of Improvisation in Glasgow with support from the CCA and CS. WIG creates peer to peer exchange platforms, public workshops and a performance evenings.
Snippet of 2019: Nicolette toured with 'Curious Shoes' a dementia friendly show created by Magdalena Schamberger and composed the score for 'Heritage' a play by Nicola McCartney at Pitlochry Festival Theatre. She also worked alongside work room members Joanna Young, Aya Kobayashi and Saffy Setohy creating 'Bodies of Water.' Nicolette created a pre recorded sound score designed for six speakers to tour with the show. Nicolette is currently working on a solo show. An hour long show that weaves together song, movement and stories exploring themes of marine conservation, exploration and the magnitude of the sea.
