monica de ioanni (she/her)
Performing artist, movement / environment advocate and mother of 9 years old daughter. monica's performance practice draws from her environmental activism and a variety of somatic practices and performing arts including contemporary and new dance, physical theatre, improvisation, Gambuh theatre and puppetry. She develops her work in site-specific settings and her style refers to third theatre. Her strong interest is to perform in informal contexts with a real and poetic relationship with the audience. Through performance she aims to bring to light the connection between an intimate ephemeral experience with the universal and timeless dramaturgy of us humans. monica studied with ISTA - International School of Theatre Anthropology, independently trained in dance and physical theatre including ODIN Teatret and Julie Stanzack (Wuppertal Tanztheater of Pina Bausch). With a Ph.D in Environmental Science, Professional Development Awards (PDAs) in Arts Education in Practice, monica qualified in Somatic Movement Education (Embody-Move, UK) and she is a member of ISMETA. She was Co-founder, company dancer and community dance developer of  LaNua-Movement and improvisation (2006 - 2014). Member of Breton puppet theatre collective Theatre de la Camelote. monica worked with Augusto Omolu, Goossun Art-illery and with Haleh Jamali exhibited internationally video art work.  With an extensive experience in arts-environment related work she brings her performances in UK and internationally. Monica continually deepens her knowledge of the body, movement, voice, rhythm, and performance.
