Lucas Chih-Peng Kao

Lucas Chih-Peng Kao is a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist working across dance, video, performance and installation. Born in Taiwan and based in Edinburgh.

As a dance filmmaker, I had developed a body of work working with choreographer and dancers to make documentary, experimental narrative, music videos and installations.

In April 2017 I was one of the four artists to received the Megaphone residency to develop a multimedia performance “Catch Up with Self” about identity with choreographer Kai-Wen Chuang, mixing video, dance, movement where we both performed on stage in the work in progress sharing during The Worker’s Festival on the 11th/June. The sharing was full housed and received very positive reviews from the audience which gives us confidence to develop the work further.

Since then I had been developing myself as a movement practitioner and performer using techniques from dance, contact improvisation and physical theatre.

I want to join Workroom to continue developing both performance work and dance film with workroom members and share, I believe my background in filmmaking and photography will be beneficial and able to help other members and my work is unique and interesting.
