Laura Gonzalez

My practice is performative, using body and voice to create live art works, with a strong visual component (from live painting, photographs, to video or staging). The subject matter of my works relates to psychoanalysis: my source material is historic medical texts, which I translate into performance. I am currently focusing on case histories, photographs, drawings and footage of hysteria, from the nineteenth century to now. I dance contemporary Graham and release, I am a yoga teacher and have been co-director of @TheGlasgowJam from 2016 to 2018. I am also a writer and author of 'Madness, Women and the Power of Art' and 'Make Me Yours: How Art Seduces'. I am an Athenaeum Research Fellow at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
