Janice Parker

Janice Parker is an award-winning choreographer and dance-maker based in Edinburgh. She is artistic director of Janice Parker Projects and a key innovator and influence in art-led, inclusive, participatory dance.

Janice is known for her collaborative performance projects with people of different ages and abilities locally, nationally and internationally. She works across art forms and believes in the value of diversity in the development of movement-based art-works. A primary focus of her work is the exploration of the movement languages, vocabularies and aesthetics that come from different bodies dancing. She makes live performance, movement for theatre, site-based work, physical installations and dance film.

She has worked with many leading artists and organisations throughout a 45-year career and has shown an unswerving commitment to disability-led work in her evolving practice as artist, choreographer, activist & mentor.

Her work with people is collaborative and responsive, where the process of working together results in a new and public artwork.

Janice Parker Projects is also actively engaged in dance development, mentoring artists and organisations, and in nurturing the next generation of dance-makers.
