James Pett

James Pett is a choreographer, director and performer based in the Highlands of Scotland. He is Co-Director of PCK Dance, an award-nominated contemporary dance company creating visually striking work that combines physical intensity, theatricality and interdisciplinary collaboration.

His practice explores how movement can communicate complex emotional and psychological landscapes, often drawing on themes of memory, identity, grief, connection and transformation. Working across theatres, unconventional spaces and international contexts, he is interested in creating work that is both visually ambitious and emotionally accessible, bringing contemporary dance into dialogue with live music, design, technology and narrative forms.

Alongside creating work for PCK Dance, James regularly collaborates with ballet and contemporary dance companies internationally. Recent commissions have been created for companies across Europe, Asia and Latin America, while his work with PCK Dance has toured extensively throughout the UK and internationally.

Having recently relocated to the Highlands, James is increasingly focused on contributing to Scotland's dance ecology through artistic exchange, artist development and long-term cultural partnerships. He is particularly interested in how contemporary dance can connect local communities with international perspectives and create meaningful opportunities for artists to develop and collaborate.
