Gail Sneddon

Gail Sneddon is an award winning Glasgow-based artist who makes performance work that brings an immersive and sensorial experience to the audience through the orchestration and design of different strands of artistic practice including dance, video, sound and space. Gail graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire in 1997 and has performed for companies such as Nigel Charnock, Athina Vahla and Ersatz. In 2002 she completed an MA in Scenography at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. This enabled her to develop a methodology that merges all elements of performance; choreography, body, space, time and environment.

In 2012 Gail worked with Claire Cunningham as mentor on '12' for Candoco Dance Company and as co-choreographer and video artist for A ménage à trois. These were Unlimited Commissions for the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad and have also toured internationally. Gail received a CATS award (Critics Award in Scotland) in recognition of her visual concept and video work for A Ménage à trois alongside the creative team.

Growing up in Lanarkshire, Gail has a strong sense of the importance of empowering communities through dance. She has a particular interest in devising work with non-performers from children, teenagers and senior participants, each bringing their own language and stories to the stage. These are the voices that she wants to explore through her professional practice and see how they can sit in the wider professional dance sector.
