Workshop: Finding Nourishment Through Change
The Work Room
TWR members Penny Chivas & Nicolette Macleod are leading a free workshop using sound and movement to explore themes of Climate Change as part of our Member Led Events programme.
"This workshops is informed by themes of resilience, imagination, collective and individual choice-making in improvisational scores.
One of our questions that brought us to create this body of work was, how can we use our imagination, music and movement skills to keep ourselves nourished in a landscape of climate breakdown and how can we hold a space for others to explore this. With sound and movement invitations, we create a space for individuals to connect with both their inner and outer landscapes. The scores that are generated are explored physically and supported by responsive live music from Nicolette. With organic, natural and mechanically generated sounds, gently opening discussion around particular values we may place on sounds are where they are sourced. Physical themes draw on both somatic practices and our outwardly visual landscape. There is space for individual exploration, discussion and larger group-devised material.
We have previously held these workshops at Dance Base in Edinburgh and at Woodlands workspace in Glasgow with support from the Civic Fund from RCS Innovation Studio"
