Rebecca Moore and Marina Renee-Cemmick, of Together with Dance, host The Work Room Social on Friday 2nd April, to share a preview of their new dance film and invite feedback from The Work Room membership.
'Together with Dance' is a movement project started at the beginning of March 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Filmed over 5 months and assembled over a period of one year, the piece has developed to produce a collaborative dance film providing connection during isolation measures, and capturing the experience of lockdown through the language of movement and music.
Glasgow based Dance Artist; Rebecca Moore and London based Multi-disciplinary Artist; Marina Renee-Cemmick initiated the proposal for 22 dancers to create a collaborative dance piece filmed on phones, cameras and laptops, in each individuals personal lockdown environments. Inspired by Mitchell Rose's 'Exquisite Corpse' (2016) Dancers were sent instructions via email and asked to respond to the footage of the previous dancers phrase, beginning where they ended, to create a dialogue of movement conversation. Some chose to move in silence, to their favourite tracks or to the sounds of their local landscapes. Original music sound score and re-composition was created in response to the choreography, with the Scottish based musician and composer Kim Moore creating the initial soundtrack. Working to create connection, we have brought together dancers from Scotland, Ireland, England, Basque Country, Japan and Taiwan.
In this social, Rebecca and Marina will share a private preview of their new dance film and then invite the breadth of knowledge and experience of the membership to reflect with them and offer thoughts, questions and feedback on the work and next steps.
The event is online, hosted on Zoom meetings and will have an live automated transcript by Otter.AI. This social will be recorded for archive purposes.

The Work Room socials are a relaxed and informal way for TWR members to meet online to share practice and engage in dialogue. The invitation is to attend in a way that feels good- this could mean camera on or off, while eating lunch, babies in arms or dropping in and out as you need.
