TWR Friday Social with Jim Manganello & Lucy Ireland

14:00–15:30 on 23.10.20
Online via Zoom

TWR Friday Socials are being taken over by members and on Friday 23 October we are looking forward to a discussion led by Jim Manganello & Lucy Ireland on "All-Nighter".

Come brainstorm with us an idea for the future...probably pretty far in the future! 'Nuit Blanche' translates roughly to an 'All-Nighter'. The name is used for a nocturnal arts festival: one night out of the year, usually as the weather's beginning to turn cold, the streets, buildings, stations, etc. of a city are taken over by artists. A massive public installation that the citizens of the city walk through. This night exists in Paris, Brussels, Dublin, Montreal, Rome, among others. We would like to propose one for Glasgow, possibly in Autumn 2022. The idea came up at a previous Work Room social, and this is a time to investigate it more fully. We'll hear a bit about the experiences the membership has had of other Nuits Blanches, do some blue-sky thinking around what Glasgow's might look like, and come up with some practical steps for moving forward. Even if the event takes place in Glasgow, we'd like to speak to artists around Scotland - as we'd hope our 'All-Nighter' event would be an all-Scotland event too.

This event is open to all members on the usual code, if you are not a member (or would like a reminder of the code) please contact sara@theworkroom.org.uk for the Zoom info.

Our Friday Socials are captioned by Otter.ai and BSL interpretation can be provided on request. Please email Sara by Monday 19 October with any access queries including BSL requests.
