SUMMER SOCIAL & LIBRARY LAUNCH

The Work Room are pleased to invite you to join us for an early evening social celebrating our small but growing dance library resource!

Our library collection is a developing resource housed in TWR studio resource room, and utilised by our members while in residence. It has been founded with generous donations from members, including the inherited collections of valued Scottish dance community members, the late Janice Claxton, Rosina Bonsu & Anna Krzystek

From January - May 2025, we hosted a volunteer placement with member Anne Kjaer, who did brilliant, patient, work colour coding, cataloguing and categorising our library archive digitally. You can now browse the full catalogue here: https://theworkroom.librarika.com/search/categories

We would like to celebrate and share our newly organsied library, and make this resource more widely accessible to members through a new lending system. We invite members to join us for a library open day, to celebrate and come together around our newly organised resource.

This will be a light and informal members gathering, bring a book, have a browse of the collection over a drink and a snack. We may invite some members to share a few extracts from their favourite passages of dance-related books.

The social will run from 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm. Some members may wish to stay on to catch TWR members Sadiq Ali  & Vee Smith presenting their work The Unlikely Friendship of Feather Girl and Tentacle Boy in Tramway at 6:45 pm that evening.

LIBRARY OPEN DAY

DONATE A BOOK - if you have a dance book you’d like to donate to the library (please see the categories below), please bring it along to donate to our collection.

RETURN A BOOK - a kind ask for members who have taken books home from the library while on residency to please return these to us to be catalogued

TAKE A YOGA  BOOK - we have a large number of yoga books that were part of Rosina Bonsu’s collection, that don’t feel so relevant to TWRs dance library, but we would like to find homes with artists, students and yogis alike. Please come along if you’d be interested in inheriting one or some of Rosina’s yoga books.

Valuing research and exchange as a foundational part of developing creative projects and practice, we are looking forward to growing this resource and sharing our library with members.
