Professional Contemporary Class 2021 with Amy Voris

10:00–11:15 on 07.01.21
Online via Zoom

Thurs & Fri 10am to 11.15am

We are really please that our Professional Contemporary Classes offered in partnerhsip with Barrowland Ballet will kick off in 2021 with a special fortnight of online classes with contemporary dance-maker Amy Voris.

Starting on 7th January, classes will run on Thursday and Friday mornings from 10am-11.15am, with a further 15 minutes allocated for optional post-class social time.

Amy’s Experiential Anatomy into Movement sessions will begin with an introduction to the day’s anatomical theme (including looking at imagery), followed by experiential explorations and gentle prompts for movement improvisation. The last portion of the session will be accompanied by music and offer space for integration. Overall these sessions are designed to cultivate sensitivity to initiation and quality of movement as well as an imaginative pleasure in dancing. Time for reflection is embedded within the sessions and individualised responses are welcome throughout.

Amy’s approach to facilitating Experiential Anatomy is deeply influenced by the work of Linda Hartley (and training in Integrative Bodywork and Movement Therapy with her). Other practitioners who inspire and inform her work are Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Andrea Olsen, Caryn McHose, Miranda Tufnell, Fabiano Culora and Janet Kaylo.

Spaces are limited for each class, so booking early is advisable. Email info@barrowlandballet.co.uk to secure your spot and receive a Zoom link for the session. Class is free to attend, if however you are in a position to support class then a donation to Barrowland Ballet would be welcome. Recommended donation is £5/class, although all donation levels are welcome.
