This is our co-run weekly, morning contemporary class with Barrowland Ballet, for the professional dance community in Glasgow on Thursdays and Fridays. The classes began in 2018 in response to the lack of professional-level contemporary dance classes in the city, providing a space for independent dance artists to come together to train and sustain practice. This class offers a structured, yet open framework for dancers to land in their bodies, tune into internal and external stimuli, and explore texture, weight and spatial dimension. Through a series of movement invitations, there will be space for movement to emerge organically, alongside moments to pause, notice and deepen physical choices.
Starting slowly by releasing into the floor and tuning into breath, we will build up pace and energy by bringing focus to anchoring, pouring, and shifting weight, while remaining responsive and engaged with the space and community around us.
An invitation for joyful and curious movement exploration set to an eclectic soundtrack. This class offers space to take what you need into the day, and leave behind what you don't.
