Pro Class with Charlotte Mclean

This is our co-run weekly, morning contemporary class with Barrowland Ballet, for the professional dance community in Glasgow on Thursdays and Fridays. The classes began in 2018 in response to the lack of professional-level contemporary dance classes in the city, providing a space for independent dance artists to come together to train and sustain practice. Thursday

We will take inspiration from ballet and Highland dance to first root ourselves in these techniques, we will then imagine new techniques and traditional dances our bodies can create. You will experience set exercises and improvisational scores to explore the history, anthropology and politics of 'technique'-driven classes. Bring your own dancing body, all techniques and dance styles welcome.  
 
Friday

We will move within the realms of breath-work, voice-work, folk dance and womb-based improvisation. You do not need a womb to participate, and soft invitations to all feelings and relationships to wombs are welcome. We will end the week celebrating our bodies and imagining new folkloric-futures together.
