OPEN ACCESS OPEN STUDIO
July 2026
at The Work Room, studio (Tramway)
This July, we’re rolling out a new pilot programme OPEN ACCESS OPEN STUDIO, consisting of bookable slots of studio time, alongside a regular programme of curated offerings on Fridays which hope to be supportive companion offers to maintaining a professional practice.
OPEN STUDIO FRIDAYS
We will be hosting OPEN STUDIO FRIDAYS on Friday the 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st July, and 7th August. These Fridays will feature regular OPEN MOVE sessions in the morning (10am-12pm), and STUDIO CAFEs in the afternoons (starting from 12.30pm)
Throughout the day on OPEN STUDIO FRIDAYS, the kettle will be on, tea and coffees available, with doors to our resource room, library, and kitchen, open to members for co-working and sharing space.
OPEN MOVE
Inspired by Wainsgate Open Practice sessions, OPEN MOVE is a free session for independent practice, to move, in a shared space, to a set playlist curated by a member.
Please note – this is not a led class or group improvisation session. This is about regular time and space to do your own thing, in the company of others. The session runs for 2 hours but there is no expectation to stay for the duration of the playlist. You can arrive and leave at any point across the 2 hours, to fit your practice around your day. To help manage numbers, these sessions require booking via OutSavvy. Our studio comfortably fits 20 moving people.

STUDIO CAFE
The afternoons will feature bookable STUDIO CAFE offerings, addressing the wider needs of being an independent dance artist, with free PAT testing for electronic devices, Creative Scotland advise sessions and one-to-ones, and heavily subsidised headshots. There will be refreshments.
OPEN ACCESS STUDIO TIME
For OPEN ACCESS STUDIO TIME, members can book free time in our studio, at Tramway, throughout July. This is a pilot programme, following on from feedback from our Members Working Group, and Members Assembly, around increasing the ease and transparency of accessing small ad-hoc pockets of studio time for members.
Studio time will be bookable in half day blocks (3.5 hours) and can be used by members for closed rehearsal and practice ie. to develop or sustain practice, rehearse, test ideas, get back into moving, and more. Please note – these slots cannot be used to hold classes, workshops or any public facing activity.
