Members of The Work Room are invited to a work in progress sharing of not for glory, a new dance theatre performance by Jack Anderson and Charlotte Mclean in collaboration with Malin Lewis.
The sharing will be at 12:00-13:30 on Wednesday 22 January, in Reid Hall at Community Central Hall, 304 Maryhill Rd, Glasgow G20 7YE
not for glory is a new dance theatre performance exploring the competitive traditions of Scottish Highland dance, Irish dance, and bagpipe music. Former competitive champions Jack, Charlotte and Malin queer and reclaim the traditions they grew up in, questioning identity, conformity, heritage, and politics. Blending nostalgia with innovation, they balance reverence for tradition with a drive for inclusion and activism. Recalling humour and heartache, relentless training and resilience built on the lonely competition stage, they offer a radical traditional dance, a song of solidarity, to a diverse contemporary world.
We will share performance material, followed by a conversation with guests to reflect and share with us at this key time, before we move into the next phase of creation and presentation in April and would be delighted if you could join us.
