ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AND SHARING
Nancy: "I will have an open class- gathering to help each other to understand the rich history and meaning and foster a deeper connection and respect for these art forms. An invitation to create together a space where body positivity and self-expression are central, allowing movers to embrace their unique selves and begin their personal healing journeys through movement and build an inclusive and supportive community where diverse identities and backgrounds are celebrated. A space for healing, where dancers feel accepted, empowered, and free to explore their identity through dance, fostering personal and collective growth and using new dance styles such as Latin dances and Middle Eastern dances."

ABOUT NANCY'S RESIDENCY
During this residency, I will work in a dance piece that weaves together my personal narratives of self-love, identity, belonging, and healing by merging Bellydance and Salsa. This work will celebrate the richness of diversity and lived experiences. By framing these dances as genuine expressions of storytelling rather than spectacles, I aim to challenge the exoticization and objectification often placed on them. My intention is to reclaim the voices of these art forms, highlighting their cultural authenticity and honouring their true significance.
