Member - Led Event from Katie Armstrong and Jack Anderson

Sunday 25 February | 12- 3 pm | The Work Room

Join Glasgow-based dancers Katie Armstrong and Jack Anderson for a Sunday session in the studio! Following on from our recent time spent in North America working with frequent collaborator Éowyn Emerald, we invite you to enjoy exploring a vast, free and powerful physicality with us. We’ll be taking inspiration from the jazz aesthetic of Éowyn’s work, as well as from the many incredible people we got to dance with in Canada and the US. We’ll play with some identifiably North American qualities - speed and attack, dynamic off-centredness and syncopation, perpetual motion, industry and humour - in an energetic contemporary class with a jazz sensibility. Then, we’ll teach some of the material from Éowyn Emerald’s Your Tomorrow (set to Dave Brubeck’s Unsquare Dance) - noticing these same qualities in the work and enjoying the challenge of staying cool whilst counting speedy sevens! We are feeling the invigorating effect of these influences on our own practices, and we hope you will too. Open to all movers

TWR members can book their place by emailing hello@theworkroom.org.uk or projects@theworkroom.org.uk
