ABOUT
Letters from the Landscape was a durational film project consisting of 52 short films, created by Stephanie Arsoska over the course of a year, that enabled her to explore a transitional journey from an ensemble-based studio practice towards a solo, digital practice. Emerging from the research Stephanie undertook with support from TWR’s artist research bursary, the practice of moving to camera started as an emergency measure during lockdowns when it was impossible to travel and to move with others, and then began to challenge her perceptions around what her practice could, and should, look like.
In this conversation Stephanie will reflect on and share how this initial investigation into the relationship between improvisation and the camera, became a doorway to discovering a more sustainable creative practice that took into consideration her health, location, and caring responsibilities. This will be followed by an open discussion on how we can create space for our practice in ways that honour, rather than deny, the multiple realties of our life.
The event will be hosted on Zoom and is open to members and non-members alike. It hopes to be an open and informal space to share reflections and engage in discussion, but attendees can participate in whatever way is most comfortable to them.

The loose timings of the event will be: 45 mins for Stephanie’s sharing & reflections, a short break, followed by 35 mins for questions, conversation, and discussion.
