The Work Room

***fully booked***

This workshop is for teaching dance artists keen to develop their practice in leading integrated dance in an inclusive and supportive environment for disabled and non-disabled dancers.

Drawing on his unique perspective, methodology and skill of inclusive practice, Marc uses clear visual imagery, description and demonstrations in his teachings. He creates an accessible and trusting environment for each individual to explore their own creative possibilities through dance; exploring translation of existing material, improvisation and how to ensure movement concepts and ideas are inclusive to everybody. This workshop will be an opportunity to explore these methods and teaching approaches.

Marc Brew is an acclaimed international disabled Choreographer, Artistic Director and Dancer. He trained as a dancer at the Victorian College of the Arts and the Australian Ballet School. He has been working in the UK and international for over 24 years as a director, choreographer, dancer, teacher and speaker. In 2008 he founded Marc Brew Company and has worked with other dance companies including Australian Ballet, State Theatre Ballet Company of South Africa, Infinity Dance Theatre, CandoCo Dance Company, Touch Compass, San Francisco Ballet, Eisenhower Dance Detroit and Scottish Dance Theatre. He was Artistic Director of AXIS Dance Company 2017 - 2021 and is currently Associate Artistic Director at Ballet Cymru.

Marc's choreography fuses a fierce physicality with tender expression to explore an emotional narrative in dance. Grounded in both contemporary and classical ballet technique, his creative process draws on the unique physicality of each performer. The work, created in collaboration with disabled and non-disabled artists, is honest, unsentimental and recognisably human.
