GOOD ENOUGH: Digital Storytelling | Workshop with John Darvell
Friday 7 August
1.30pm-4pm
The Work Room studio, Tramway
Free, booking required via Outsavvy
A members' exploration with NOCTURN.
This workshop focuses on contemporary dance, using choreographic scores rather than step-based material. Participants will be guided through how a story can be translated into a movement phrase, and captured with everyday technology to create augmented reality (AR) live performance.
During the session, there will be activities exploring what opportunities a piece of technology can offer, a demonstration on how to use a cardboard model to test ideas before production, with optional participation in a filmed demonstration, using your developed movement phrases.
Participants will come away with a better understanding of how choreography can be built from narrative and movement, how this connects with technology, and how ideas are tested before becoming a live experience.
This is an entry level workshop, with no experience of dance, or AR required. All participants are encouraged to move at their own speed and intensity. You do not need to bring any equipment with you.

About NOCTURN
“We co-create interactive dance adventures with later-life dancers — older dancers returning to dance, starting late, or dancing for life. Using everyday tech in simple, purposeful ways, we invite audiences to step inside the work online, outdoors and live.”
