Futuristic Folktales Workshop
CCA Clubroom
Join Charlotte Mclean in a three hour workshop on Wednesday 24th April, 10.30 am - 13.30 pm | CCA (Clubroom) researching the themes of her new work 'Futuristic Folktales'. The workshop will be in three parts: Wombs, Highlands, Futures.
The workshop will begin with Charlotte's practice 'my body is my home'. This practice uses imaginations to begin dancing from a womb. This is open to those with varied experiences of their wombs, as well as those without. Care, softness and listening is of upst priority throughout.
Part two will delve into the Highland dancing discourse explored during the work. Guided improvisational offerings of resistance, pride, shame and rain will be shared, as well as learning a Highland dance - the Seann Truibhas.
Lastly, Charlotte would like to experiment with the group on how to lead part three. She is interested in conversations surrounding human reproduction and reproductive justice for all bodies. She welcomes playful, honest participants willing to share their experiences with these themes. Or not, if you'd rather just come to listen.
The workshop is open to professional dancers and non-dancers alike.
The workshop is free and participants receive a complimentary ticket to Futuristic Folktales at Tramway on Friday 26th April, 7.30pm or Saturday 27th April, 2.30pm.
