Thursday 2 March | 2.30 - 4pm

In late January/ early February this year, Lucy Gaizely & Gary Gardiner (21Common) undertook a creative residency at Tanzzentrale Nuremberg through a partnership with The Work Room (Glasgow). Recognising the synergies between both organisations, The Work Room and Tanzzentrale, developed this exchange seeking to enhance connections between dance artists from Scotland and those from the regional dance scene in Nuremberg.

In this conversational event, Lucy & Gary will be joined by  Susanna Curtis and Nora Hensel from Tanzzentrale Nuremberg on  reciprocal visit to Glasgow. They will be sharing from their residency experience in Nuremberg and we will hear more about Tanzzentrale's role as an artistic home to freelance dance artists working in the region of Nuremberg.

21Common create dance that challenges the accepted and expected. Their previous work has consistently challenged the notion of who can be a dancer and has placed those that are under-represented in that role. During this residency Lucy invited Gary - her partner of 21 years – to explore a new dance; borne of dependency, sadness, rage and grief - in an attempt to manifest the trajectory of their relationship.

This project is supported by the Goethe Institut in Glasgow and the International offices (twinning cities) in Nuremberg and Glasgow and by the BLZT (Bavarian Federation for Contemporary Dance).
