About the performance
An interdisciplinary, interactive multi-media performance, produced by Theiya Arts Dance Collective in collaboration with The Centre for Biomedicine, Self and Society at The University of Edinburgh, that explores the complex relationships between women, social structures, health and social policies, and institutions and challenges assumptions about gender, society, and power. .The production features interactive projection, live audience interaction, creative use of text from the process, and movement exploration drawn from Indian classical-contemporary dance and is set in a durational exhibition/installation format with live performance elements. Drawing on women's embodied experiences and narratives, Maiden | Mother | Whore is a thought-provoking performance that delves into the tensions between individuals and collectives, agency and power, and patterns of oppression and resistance.
