COMPANION SERIES

05.07—29.08.23

One of the things we love about The Work Room is that we are a community, with ongoing opportunities to connect, exchange, share and support one another.

Following on from our AGM gatherings, and other conversations we’ve been having with members over the past year, we wanted to pick up on some recurring themes and requests with a ‘Companion Series.’

Companion Series will be a raft of coffee mornings and meet-ups, focused conversations, discussions and practical support sessions taking place both online and in-person. Designed with the intention of being complimentary to members practice, the series creates more moments to come together around shared - and different - interests, needs, and lived experience.

All of the sessions can be booked by emailing hello@theworkroom.org.uk

Sessions are open to members of The Work Room, see here for details on how to join.

Tuesday 29 August | 11am-1pm - at Tramway

Crip* coffee morning – for members who identify as D/deaf disabled, neurodivergent and/or are living with chronic and long-term health conditions

The first of a number of small gatherings with members who self -identify as disabled, neurodivergent and/or experience chronic or long-term health conditions to spend some ‘slow time’ alongside one another in crip* solidarity; sharing experience, challenges; spoons and joy! With each session different members may propose a starting point for a conversation. The session on Tuesday 29 August will support both online and in-person attendance at Tramway, Glasgow.

*Many self-identifying disabled people, particularly in arts and activism, have reclaimed ‘Crip’ as a term of solidarity, community, and resistance to able-ism; conveying shared understanding, celebration and appreciation of what it is to live in the world as a disabled person. This is the intention with which we use it here.
