Professional Class with Ellen Van Schuylenburch and Michael Clark
Friday 11 July | 1 - 2.30 pm | The Work Room studio, Tramway
On Friday 11 July, The Work Room members are invited to take class with Ellen Van Schuylenburch and Michael Clark.
Informed by ballet, the class will begin on the floor, followed by barre work, before moving into the centre for some movement phrases.
Ellen and Michael have worked together since the 1980s, when she was a founder member of Michael Clark company.

ACCESS
The Work Room is on the top floor of Tramway, and can be accessed via stairs or a lift.
The Work Room has two gender neutral, wheelchair accessible toilets with showers.
BIOS
Ellen Van Schuylenburch
Ellen trained at the Rotterdam Dance Academy and after graduating danced with Nederlands Dans Theater. She then left for New York to train at the Cunningham Studio and to develop her skills as a freelance dancer. Ellen has worked as a rehearsal director (including for Richard Alston and Russell Maliphant) and taught company class for many professional companies and schools in the UK and internationally.
Michael Clark
Michael Clark was born in Scotland and after initial training in Highland dancing in Aberdeen, went on to study at the Royal Ballet School (1975 -1979). After performing with Rambert, he began making his own work, becoming resident choreographer at Riverside Studios and launching Micahel Clark & Company in 1984. His work has been marked by a mix of technical rigour & experimentation, intense & fine-tuned choreography intersecting with elements of punk, Dada, high / low culture.
