In this workshop, renowned Indonesian choreographer Giadi Gianti, will introduce participants to a contemporary dance composition rooted in Indonesian traditional movement vocabulary.
Through guided exploration, technique exercises, and creative tasks, dancers will explore how traditional aesthetics—such as groundedness, gestures, rhythmic patterns, and cultural motifs—can merge with contemporary flow, improvisation, and spatial dynamics. By the end of the session, participants will collaboratively create a short showing that reflects their understanding of this approach.
Presented in association with SURGE.
